  4. Lay the bread slices on a rimmed baking sheet and top evenly with mozzarella. Broil until browned and bubbling, 1 to 2 minutes; remove from oven.
  5. Divide the tomatoes evenly among the toasts and top with Parmesan.
  6. Remove the herb sprigs from the simmering broth; set aside. Whisk the bean puree into the broth and return to a gentle boil.
  7. Ladle the soup into bowls and garnish with reserved herb sprigs and black pepper. Serve with cheese toasts.
