  1. In a heat-safe ceramic bowl, whisk together the egg, salt, pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, and water until foamy.
  2. Place the bowl in a pot and fill the pot with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the bowl. Cover and cook over low-medium heat for 12 minutes, maintaining a gentle simmer.
