  2. In large saucepan, heat oil over medium-high. Add onion, cook and stir until tender.
  3. Add beans, tomatoes, oregano and garlic powder. Bring to a boil.
  4. Stir in rice. Cover, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for 45 minutes.
  5. Remove from the heat and let it sit, covered for 10 more minutes. Fluff with a fork.
