  1. Heat pressure cooker over medium heat and add oil. While the oil heats, rinse the rice and lentils together with water. Add one coriander seed to the oil, if you hear sizzling the oil is hot enough, thus add the rest and stir. Add the lentils and rice to the pressure cooker and stir. Add 5 cups of hot water to the pressure cooker. Add the remaining spices and stir. Close the pressure cooker and allow to cook on medium heat for about 15 minutes (until the pressure cooker begins to sputter). Remove from heat and allow to sit another 15 minutes.
