  1. Set out butter and brie cheese and allow to soften to room temperature. Thinly slice bread diagonally to make 36 small pieces.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and place the rack in the middle position.
  3. Remove wrappings from cheese and discard the box. Place the cheese on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake the cheese for 20 minutes. Let it stand while preparing the toasts.
  5. Meanwhile, mince garlic and mash it into a paste with 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Combine the garlic paste, paprika, and butter in a bowl.
  6. Spread the butter mixture thinly onto the bread slices.
  7. Bake the bread slices for 10 to 15 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crisp.
  8. Cut off the top rind of the baked brie cheese and serve it warm with the toasted bread slices.
